Verstappen broke some world records during his strong season in 2021, such as earning the most podiums in a single season and being the fourth youngest driver to win a World Championship in F1. ![]() In 2021, Verstappen secured his first world title, making him the first Dutch driver to win a Formula One World Championship. While only becoming the fourth youngest driver to take pole position at the 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix, he also became the 100th driver to take pole. In Belgium, he became the youngest front row starter up until the 2017 Italian Grand Prix when Lance Stroll beat him by 23 days, and the first Dutchman to start on the front row and in Brazil, he became the youngest to set a fastest lap. His move to Red Bull in mid-2016 saw him become the youngest winner in F1 history aged just 18 years old at his first race for the team, the Spanish Grand Prix. He competed in the first practice session at the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix, which he set the 12th fastest time of the session.
